Netgear WNDA3100 fails

Netgear WNDA3100 failfest

After buying a WNHDE111 access point from Netgear and realising it was wholly incompatible with all the other Netgear wireless I own, I was told by the technicians* to buy the Netgear WNDA3100 usb adapter.

Netgear WNHDE3111 and WNDA3100 bundle

What they failed to mention is that it has a long history of causing BSOD crashes with XP and Vista – AND THERE ARE NO DRIVERS for Windows 7.

Nor have they plans for it.

If you attempt to find online drivers for Windows 7 (especially 64) you will get an instant BSOD crash that will persist as long as the USB adaptor is plugged in.

*(By the way Netgear, thanks for directing closing all the UK lines and redirecting me to an Indian call centre. Note: That was sarcasm!)

Addenda (2020)

I haven’t bought Netgear products in years, following a catalogue of errors, badly manufactured hardware, and wholesale abandonment of products in terms of drivers and support. They went from having my highest regard in the mid 90’s and having absolutely no trust or respect for the company. The bigger they got, the worse they became, I found.
