Predictions and requests:
If you play Palia and find this post useful, please do show your thanks by voting on my plot (ackadia). Ta. ![]()
This is not so much insider knowledge and understanding how it works, which is pretty much more of the same, with bells on.
I fully expect the next content upgrade to include:
New common and rare fruits and herbs
New mining nodes including common and rare ores and a new stone, like marble
New lumber types (e.g. ebony) and with it new furniture range.
A new profession or two, possibly farm produce related.
A major decor upgrade to kitchens (e.g. stove, oven)
Mounts – so they can add those to the store.
As a side note I would very much like to see the following added:
Triangular and even curved pieces for building decors (e.g a stone wall or floor square cut diagonally)
Marble building blocks, ideally using whitestone
A soil decor (e.g. similar to the one sold by Badruu
A water decor (if it can be animation – like the house walls – that would be nice, please.)
Creamery. I actually expect this will go in sooner rather than later, but for a creamery for the plot to be able to produce butter, cheese etc.
Herb garden. I also expect this to go in eventually too. Whether they include rarer ingredients like flowtato, Dari cloves and heat root is another matter (they should), but it’s still wanted.
Farming: herbs: Honestly, I expect this is on the drawing board, somewhere, but the game begs for it. It doesn’t have to be quick or cheap or easy, but it needs to be in the game. Faffing about with borked compasses in not fun. I just want to grow my own herbs and spices, especially heat heat, Dari cloves and flowtato.

Suggestions for the developers:
I am not a ‘game’ developer’ as such, though I have created board and computer games in the past, even worked on and hosted a CircleMUD MMO or two, and have dabbled in programming for decades in multiple languages. More than that, I’m a gamer with possibly over 100,000 hours of experience and have been writing guides for at least 30 years, so I know a thing or two. Some of these are trivial and not really important, others, the game screams out for (seen from a PC perspective).
Anyway, these are my suggestions so far…
Chat Enter bug: For the love of all that’s unholy fix that bloody (Windows PC) bug were pressing ‘enter’ (to open chat) sometimes sends the game into a minimised window and toggles back and forth. It is beyond annoying! I have never in my life seen another game do this and I never want to see it again! Fix this as a priority!
Unfishable pools: There are so many! Please move or remove these, it is annoying! Do you not you test these!?
Drag object group, drop, test. Done. It’s not that hard for you!
Plot voting: make this aggregate!.
A system that heavily favours streamers and organised discorders etc. but – BY DESIGN – penalises casual players is both cruel and wrong-headed.
For those that don’t understand, posting your plot for views and likes can reward nameplates – there are 16 in all. Most people will be lucky to get 5 votes in a week before it resets. If you feature it – at a (token) cost – you might – might – get 25 or so.
You can vote on your own plot, and ask all your friends (capped) and ask in server chat (capped, also cringeworthy), but the chance of getting even to tier II is low.
To get 50 points I had to:
ask every one in my community,
ask numerous Palia ‘friends’,
ask in server chat several times,
ask via my web posts (like this one)
AND feature it multiple times (anything after Monday morning is pretty much wasted)
The screenshots below are from a Saturday night, so near the end of the weekly event. It was altogether too stressful – and you need 10x that number IN A WEEK to get the final nameplate. The chance for most people, even for the most basic, is slim to none. For the tier IV – I’d say impossible.
Oh, and you have to repeat this 4 times if you want them all.
…
My opinion?
Stop giving Singularity 6 your money for decors until they change their position on this!
They are rewarding streamers and the like and giving the middle finger to the millions of regular players. Rewarding streamers, I get, but punishing regular players for not being streamers, that stinks to the high hells!
It’s this simple, Singularity6:
If a player posts their plot every week – for months – and eventually gets the tier nameplate they want, they are going to be happy.
If they post it every week and can’t even get 10 votes, they will give up. “What is the point!?”
Some of them are putting hundreds even thousands of hours into their plot and they can’t get recognition because – it seems – no mmatter how much money this spend with you, they do not matter. They are just ormuu to be milked dry. Streamer that bring you fresh meat, them you reward. Players? Them you have no respect for! NONE!
SHAME ON YOU, Singularity6. DO BETTER! GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!
Tier I is 10 likes – of the same type – in a week
Tier II needs 50 likes
Tier III needs 200 likes
Tier IV needs 500 likes

Change this INSANE “accomplishment”: Gotta get paid.
Anyone actually trying to accomplish this needs help, and I mean that sincerely. I get the ‘completist’ fixation, but if you’re obsessively trying to reach this target, odds are you have an obsessive compulsive personality disorder. A ‘normal’ person would take one look at that and say “**** that!“, someone with OCPD though…
(e.g. The Relationship Between Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Gaming Disorder, Hawi and Samaha, 2023)
(Gaming addiction is typically considered when someone plays for 8-10 hours or more daily)
This NEEDS to be lowers to something sane and achievement for most, like 100k, 1m, 10m.
This should never have been signed off on and, in my not so humble opinion, the persons responable knew what they were doing and are complete
. It’s not big, it’s not clever and it’s not cool.

For clarity, even allowing cooking parties can be lucrative, 100m gold is:
1 million regular glow worm fish (e.g. stonefish) or * quality apples
100,000 epic fish (e.g. void ray)
1,000 cooking parties, each averaging 100,000g profit.
Message of the Day option for communities. Also, the ability to edit the community notes because, as it stands, it’s next to useless!
Search and sort on accomplishments There are rather a lot of accomplishments, it would be a great QoL improvement if you could search them, and sort by ‘unfinished’
Hot pot table. Another QoL for players would be to reduce the auto-start for this from 1m30s to 1m.
Revise request values. It is stupid that high value epic items like Ancient Amber (350g) and Oak Amber (350g) can only be requested 20 at a time. That’s 7,000g a request for 20 epic items…
Supreme Smoke Bombs Be a bit more generous with the cost of these, pearls ain’t falling off trees! A pearl to make ONE supreme smoke bomb!? It should be the least 5, ideally 10 or 20!
Increase party size a limit of 4 is just wrong, it should be 5.
I get why, from a cooking group point of view, you’d want to reduce the size slightly, and I get this isn’t your average MMO but – I suspect – the majority of gamers coming to Palia are used to games (solo and multiplayer) were 5 is standard and finding you can’t add a fifth player is just wrong.
(e.g. Dungeonmaster (1987) or WoW, where a normal party may be considered to compose a tank, healer, rogue, hunter and mage)
Another chest upgrade, because 14,000 still isn’t enough for many of us. Might I suggest platinum as the metal requirement, cost would be 250,000g. Something to grind for.
Storage sort options: Something like the crafting station, but sorted by name (alphabetic), quantity or value.
Mostly, I think, most people would use the quantity option as we overload the chests:
*click* “Okayyy, I have 613 stone and 497 flint, they can go!”
*click* “Hmm, I need 15,000g for that upgrade, ‘that’, ‘that’ and ‘that’ would cover it.
*click* “OK, 87 land sharks and 65 bass, I’ll use those for worm food”
Ordering in… For instance, if you are in a party cooking and run out of butter, dash to your AmaZeki™ order point and make your order. Instant delivery.
Quest to unlock, of course.
Party food: Thinking more of a group buff than cocktail sticks, but, using WoW as an example, you drop a cauldron down and everyone in the party can get (say) a fishing buff for 10 or 30 minutes. Ask a further suggestion, after a suitable quest, Tamala could supply the recipe or perhaps just the cauldron, sold in her shop for essence.
Cooking: Add ‘professional’ kitchen utensils. e.g. A two ring stove, perhaps with a fancy hood, combi or deck oven. You get the idea. Functional as well as cosmetic, please.
Cooking (party): Work on the rules for cooking parties. For the most part, as far as I can tell, the system is great, but falls down when it involves simple recipes like conchee, using the camp fire. As one only person can do the work, nobody can share the tasks or rewards. (Conchee and the halloween event being the case in point).
Cooking in parties particularly falls down due to – I suspect – lag, resulting in wasted ingredients. For instance, I decide to chop heat root and – because of the delay in flagging – someone else looks and thinks, “We still need heat root”, when we don’t. Not an easy fix, I appreciate, but needed. If someone has started processing an ingredient if should be removed (faster) and or offer a message to the effect that it’s being chopped, pick something else.
(Noting that the ability to overadd is used in cooking parties with large numbers of people).
Cooking (batches): Again with cooking, ingredient lock-ins and order runs.
For instance, it’s a good idea to grill lake sharks – you can sell the * grills and use the rest for your worm farms, but it means going in the inventory, pick the lake shark out of all the other fish, grill ONE. Rinse and repeat, maybe 10, maybe 100+ times… Very inefficient and gets tiresome after a while.
Cooking and rare spices. Please move/remove rare spices (e.g Dari cloves and heat root) from “any spice” to avoid accidental use of these precious items.
Hunting: Add a default setting for ammunition. For instance, “On log-in and until I change things, I want my default arrow to be ‘fine’, not random, thanks.” So, an option to lock it in!
Fix / improve compasses! : The range is just too big, too unclear, and too unreliable. Many it needs more types, or a massive overhaul, I don’t know, but – especially for mining – I find they are worse than useless. Why is it directing me to stone!? Who needs a detector for stone!? Take stone off the detector.
One thing I’d suggest is fading the pointer. 100m or less and on bright, 200m dull, 300m+ faded. (The up and down arrows help a bit, but mostly not so much). It’s basically a case of too much information.
Compass and people: Please say who that green dot is, otherwise it’s next to useless. It is qucker and easier to look on the mat to find them. Stargate-wise, add a chevron to the compass. If the chevron engages, add the target’s name beneath. So, instead of just giving a distance (e.g. 12m), get the name, thus: [FredFlintstone, 12m], [gold, 12m], [heat root, 12m]. It would be a MASSIVE quality of life improvement to the game!
Removing people from a party: You can’t do this if they have logged out, which is a bit crazy. As far as I can tell, the only option is to disband the party and invite people again. Please fix this!
NPC gifing: Make daily donations to NPC’s clearer.
For the weekly request there’s an overlay to show whether they like or love the item they requested. Something similar for daily offerings would be GREATLY appreciated. Also
NPC gifting (2): Please, please make NPC daily and weekly gifts available from general (chest) inventory as well as carried storage. It’s one QoL improvement this game really screams for!
NPC gifting (3): Staying with NPC relationships, the current system, while functional, doesn’t really work. My notes while playing look like the mess below and the existence of sites and apps like Palia Tracker just tell you something needs improving upon. An overlay like the one used with quests would work for me, and a keybind for such information would also be welcome (e.g. F (talk) G (store) H (wants)).

Community promotion: Make communities more accessible!
Search for/listing is not available at this stage.
Spamming server chat is just crass and, if you’ve ever played games like WoW for more that a minute, you’ll know how fast that gets annoying
Adding lots of folk and ninja inviting them to yor community, also rude.
Logging out the game to recruit via Discord… No! Just NO!
You can do a lot of the above, sure, but many players of this type of game tend to be introverted and even ASD, so it’s more than a tad uncomfortable for them to try.
Typos
I probably notice them more that most, partly because I’m pedantic, but mostly because I take the time to read everything. Every dialogue, even note, every book – even the one about the bonus for juggling soup.
An easy or conventient way for players to report them would be nice, or at least useful for yourselves.
There’s not a lot, but they are sprinkled about. I imagine Caleri would be horrified by this example. In her library!

Fixed!
Tamala’s potion store please replace the gold balance with the player’s essence balance, for trade purposes.
Happily, this was added to Tamala’s (and Subira’s) stalls in the following patch: 0.197
