WordPress 2.8 visual editor bug
WordPress 2.8 editor bug
Not wholly sure this is a bug as it doesn’t affect everyone. Far as I can tell it’s caused by WordPress not completely upgrading from earlier versions. It is also affect by the theme you use. For instance on this blog I have no problems, on another, I’ve lost images. Same server, same theme, so that rules out most variables. However, if I drop back to the default WordPress theme the issue goes away. Re-activate the Thesis theme, it’s back again
What’s happening is a JS call to add images fails, giving a message like this:
Message: Exception thrown and not caught
URI: http://milliontwits. com/wp-admin/load-scripts.php?c=1&load=jquery (etc)
Essentially it mean to can’t add graphics to your blog. 😐
It is well covered in this thread on WordPress: [resolved] 2.8 upgrade killed visual editor
One workaround that works for many people is to add:
define( ‘CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS’, false );
The other is to simply replace the missing files:
Ok, I got it to work… Here is what I did…
In the TinyMCE folder — I DELETED… ALL… “The Files!” NOT folders.
I uploaded ALL the files (NOT FOLDERS) from the WordPress 2.8 – I DOWNLOADED from the “WordPress.org website.”
ALL seems to work now — with the editor.
There were missing files and files that were not needed it seems.
Earlier I upgraded another blog from 2.3.1 to 2.8 – MANUALLY. All worked fine as the proper files were there – it seems.
Hope this helps you all!
HOWEVER, this didn’t work either.
For me the problem appears to be caused by the (now removed) SexyBookmarks plug-in, which is strange as it doesn’t affect the other similarly configured sites. Disabling the plug-in on the other (affected) blog sorted the conflict.
