Thought I’d be a bit different today, here’s a view I took of the Runcorn-Widnes bridge, seen from the front of a Crossville, coming back from the Runcorn old town. (Circa 1982) You’ll not see the bridge that clear of traffic these days!

The year was 1619 and 38 colonists from Berkeley Parish in England disembark in Virginia and give thanks to God. This is considered by many to be America’s first Thanksgiving. (Cite: Historyorb)

In publishing, back in 1791, Britain’s Observer was published for the first time. It is the oldest Sunday newspaper in the world.

Also in publishing, this time in comics, the first edition of ‘The Dandy’ rolled off the presses and ran for 75 years to the day, the last issue being last year, also in this day – 4th December, 2013.
