22nd August 2006: Oh joy, a Mag scan and a cystoscopy!

***   Diary index   ***

Getting probed again!

Saw Matthew again today, one of my doctors. Oh joy of joys, more scans. This time a Mag-3 scan involving another type of machine, this time involving water tablets, more radioactive dye injections, more needles…
*Mutter*

[ For various reasons this was actually done a month or so after I left the Royal. It was all the fun it sound, with the added joy that you have to drink a gallon of water, then retain it after being given something to specifically speed up your waterworks. I swear the second I got off the machine I was hobbling for the toilets. Then again five minutes later. Just made it the (short) distance to the train station toilets, was near screaming on the (short) journey back on the express train as it had no toilets…
Oh yes, and my kidneys, particularly the more damaged left one, are still 'slow'. I believe they were at 20% efficiency when I actually left hospital after being patched up and had crawled to 40% efficiency on my last check up ].

And to complete my day they also need to do a cystoscopy! You can Google for that if you want the graphic/gory technical details but if you want the 101, they clean the the area, add a healthy measure of lubricant and insert a camera down, or rather up the same route my catheter went in - "Natures way in" is how they happily described it!
Smiley is shocked

Oh aye, the nausea I keep feeling is due to the high levels of urea in my blood. The high blood pressure doesn't help.
